We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Children's Residential Support Worker to join our team, focusing on providing support to vulnerable children and young people during crisis situations. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a deep understanding of trauma and its effects on behavior, along with a commitment to creating safe and nurturing environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day support, including activities, appointments, and family contact, in line with individual care plans.
  • Engage and encourage children and young people to participate in activities aimed at promoting their well-being.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports to support the development of goals and care plans.
  • Play a critical role in safeguarding and promoting the well-being of children and young people.

Required Experience:

  • A minimum of 12 months experience supporting children and young people in a residential setting is essential for this role
  • Confidence in managing heightened behaviors using de-escalation techniques.
  • Ability to make decisions and take appropriate action in challenging situations.
  • Proficiency in daily record-keeping with accuracy.
  • Capability to remain calm during crisis situations, including instances of aggression, self-harm, and destructive behaviors.
  • Understanding of how trauma and diagnoses can impact the behavior of children and young people.

Skills and Training:

  • Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to support a new application.
  • PMVA (Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression) trained or willingness to undergo training.
  • Possession of a valid UK driving license is essential and ideally to have business insurance.
  • The ability to work at short notice will be necessary

Additional Information:

  • Flexible working patterns available which may include sleeping in.
  • Hourly rate: £14.50 - £20.38.
