We are looking for an experienced Quality Engineer on behalf of our Client to join their machine shop team, supporting both existing production and new product introduction (NPI) activities. This position plays a key role in maintaining and improving product quality, ensuring compliance with customer and internal standards, and driving continuous improvement across manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support APQP and NPI activities within the machine shop.
  • Generate PPAP documentation as required during NPI phases.
  • Support customer 8D and CAR expectations, ensuring effective problem resolution and prevention of recurrence.
  • Review and analyse daily scrap data, updating metric display boards and QOS reports.
  • Support and oversee internal and external calibration processes.
  • Develop and improve in-house calibration procedures to reduce dependence on external laboratories.
  • Conduct internal process audits and daily process compliance inspections.
  • Prepare work instructions for production and quality processes.
  • Deliver quality-related training and mentoring for shop floor personnel.
  • Create and maintain CMM programs (preferably using PC-DMIS) to support both NPI and existing parts.
  • Perform patrol and pre-dispatch inspections to ensure customers are protected from known or historic quality issues.
  • Undertake any other reasonable tasks as required to support business needs.

Key Skills and Experience
Essential:

  • Strong understanding of APQP, FMEA, Control Plans, and SPC.
  • Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
  • Experience within a precision machining or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with MSA (Measurement Systems Analysis).
  • CMM Programming experience (ideally with PC-DMIS software).
  • Previous experience supporting customer-facing quality activities.
