About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and driven Residential Care Home Manager to take full operational responsibility for a charming and vibrant care home located in the Suffolk area. The home offers a warm, community-led atmosphere and provides high-quality care to elderly residents with a variety of needs, including dementia, physical disability, and sensory impairment.

As the Home Manager, you will be responsible for leading the team to deliver outstanding care, ensuring regulatory compliance, and embedding a positive, person-centred culture throughout the service. You will work closely with regional support teams, families, and external stakeholders to maintain the home's excellent standards and strong local reputation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, direction, and motivation to the care home team.
  • Oversee and ensure the delivery of high-quality, person-centred care that meets individual needs.
  • Ensure full compliance with CQC regulations and other relevant legislative requirements.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the home, including occupancy, staffing, training, and budgets.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with residents, families, staff, and external agencies.
  • Conduct regular audits and implement action plans to drive continuous improvement.
  • Lead on safeguarding and health & safety within the home.
  • Support recruitment, staff development, supervision, and performance reviews.
  • Promote a culture of inclusion, dignity, respect, and quality of life for all residents.
  • Organise and oversee events, activities, and resident engagement that reflect the home's lively and family-orientated ethos.
  • Represent the home in community engagement and local partnership working.
  • Monitor KPIs and ensure the home remains financially sustainable and well-resourced.

Essential Criteria

  • NVQ Level 5 in Health & Social Care Leadership (or equivalent)
  • Proven track record in managing a residential care home or similar service
  • Strong understanding of CQC regulations, compliance, and inspection processes
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and developing staff
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to manage budgets and occupancy
  • Commitment to high standards of care and resident wellbeing
  • Professional, compassionate, and confident decision-maker
  • Stable career history - no job hoppers
  • Ability to work collaboratively with external agencies such as CQC, Local Authority, and ICB

Desirable Experience

  • Experience managing services for individuals with dementia and complex needs
  • Demonstrated success in achieving positive CQC ratings
  • Knowledge of safeguarding, MCA/DoLS, and infection prevention & control
