We are seeking a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our engineering team in a fast-paced Food/FMCG production environment. This is a hands-on role with a slight mechanical bias, responsible for maintaining and improving our automated production equipment.

You will be working on a variety of equipment including conveyors, baggers, and weighers, ensuring the smooth operation of machinery through both Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct mechanical and electrical maintenance across the site.

  • Diagnose and repair faults on PLC-controlled systems (fault finding only).

  • Work on both single and 3-phase electrical systems.

  • Perform PPM tasks and respond quickly to reactive breakdowns.

  • Ensure minimal downtime and support continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Keep accurate maintenance records and documentation.

  • Collaborate with production and other departments to ensure engineering solutions meet operational needs.

Experience / Skills / Qualifications:
  • Time-served engineer (apprenticeship or equivalent).

  • Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills.

  • Experience with PLC fault finding (programming not required).

  • Previous experience working in Food or FMCG environments.

  • Knowledge of conveyors, baggers, and weighing systems is highly desirable.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced setting.

  • Proactive, reliable, and hands-on with a problem-solving mindset.

Desirable Qualifications:
  • NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds or equivalent in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering.

  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (for electrically biased engineers).
