Location: Stranraer

Contract: 1 year - 270 - 320/day

Project Overview:
This role is for a high-profile housing development project focused on groundworks, including site preparation, excavation, drainage, foundations, and other essential ground-related works for the residential units. The project will involve various phases of groundwork construction and will require expert oversight to ensure smooth and timely execution.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Quality Control:
    Conduct inspections of completed groundworks to ensure all installations meet the required design specifications and standards. Maintain rigorous quality control to ensure the foundations and groundwork are sound and ready for the next phases of construction.

  • Health & Safety Management:
    Ensure strict adherence to health and safety regulations, specifically relating to groundworks, excavation, and trenching activities. Conduct regular safety audits and toolbox talks with site teams.

  • Site Coordination:
    Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers, and other teams (such as structural engineers and contractors) to ensure the smooth flow of materials, labor, and equipment. Resolve any issues that may arise with groundworks activities.

  • Progress Reporting:
    Prepare and submit detailed daily, weekly, and monthly reports on progress, quality, and any potential delays related to the groundworks phase. Communicate effectively with the Project Manager to address challenges and propose solutions.

  • Documentation & Compliance:
    Maintain accurate records of all groundworks activities, including materials used, methods of construction, inspections, and safety protocols. Ensure compliance with relevant construction standards, codes, and regulations.

  • Problem Solving:
    Identify potential problems related to groundworks and propose effective solutions to ensure project continuity. Collaborate with the project team to resolve issues quickly and minimize delays.

  • Stakeholder Meetings:
    Attend regular site and progress meetings with the project team, contractors, and consultants. Provide updates on groundworks progress and collaborate with stakeholders to meet project goals.



Qualifications:

  • Experience:
    Minimum of [3-5] years of experience as a Site Engineer, with a proven track record in managing groundworks for housing or large-scale residential projects.

  • Skills & Competencies:

    • Deep knowledge of groundworks processes, including excavation, foundations, drainage, and site preparation.

    • Familiarity with relevant software tools (e.g., AutoCAD, MS Project).

    • Ability to interpret technical drawings, engineering specifications, and groundworks-related designs.

    • Strong understanding of local building codes, safety standards, and environmental guidelines.

    • Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with site teams, subcontractors, and project managers.

    • Problem-solving and decision-making abilities to handle unforeseen challenges on-site.
