Job Title: Stock Condition Survey Manager (18-Month Fixed Term Contract)

About the Role:

We're seeking an exceptional Stock Condition Survey Manager to spearhead our ambitious stock condition survey program. This critical 18-month contract offers the opportunity to lead a large-scale initiative aimed at surveying 30% of our extensive property portfolio – approximately 26,000 surveys – in the upcoming financial year. You will be instrumental in ensuring we gather high-quality data to inform our strategic asset management and investment plans.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership & Development: Take ownership of managing and developing our expanding internal surveying team, overseeing its growth from 5 to 12 dedicated professionals.
  • External Partner Management: Oversee and effectively manage contracts with external consultant surveying partners to ensure seamless program delivery.
  • Data Excellence: Establish and maintain robust processes to ensure the highest quality of data collection and comprehensive reporting.
  • Performance & Delivery: Diligently monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to survey completion, proactively identifying and addressing any potential challenges.
  • Compliance & Safety: Oversee and manage Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) reporting to ensure regulatory compliance and resident safety.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Liaise effectively and build strong working relationships across multiple internal business teams to ensure program alignment and success.

Essential Skills:

  • Proven Leadership: Demonstrable strong experience in managing and developing staff, ideally within a surveying or property-related field.
  • Data Mastery: Excellent skills in data reporting, analysis, and reconciliation, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
  • Housing Expertise: A deep and practical understanding of housing repairs, stock condition surveys, and relevant industry best practices.
  • Consultant Management: Proven ability to effectively manage and hold accountable external consultants and contractors.
  • Exceptional Communication: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and influence stakeholders at all levels. 1
