A welcoming and inclusive primary school in the London Borough of Newham is seeking a compassionate and committed 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with additional learning needs. This is a full-time role starting in September 2025, ideal for someone with experience in providing tailored support in a primary setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing 1:1 support to a pupil with identified special educational needs (SEN)

  • Assisting with learning tasks, behaviour management, and personal development

  • Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement support plans

  • Helping to create an inclusive, engaging, and safe learning environment

  • Encouraging independence and confidence in learning and social interactions

  • Supporting with personal care, where necessary (depending on the child’s needs)

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Previous experience working with children with SEN in a primary school setting

  • A patient, nurturing, and empathetic approach

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team

  • An understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures

  • A relevant qualification (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant or SEN-specific training) is desirable
