Mechanical Tooling Technician

Employment type: Full-time, Permanent

Location: Gaydon

Salary: £28,000 per annum (increases to £31,000 after successful 6 month probation period) + Bonus

Hours: 37.5hrs Monday-Friday on a rotational shift basis - Example below:

  • Early shift - Mon to Thu; 06:00 until 15:00, Fri; 06:00 until 11:00
  • Day shift - Mon to Thu; 07:00 until 16:00, Fri; 06:30 until 11:30
  • Evening shift - Mon to Thu; 14:45 until 01:00 the following morning (four evenings)

The Role

This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to develop hands-on mechanical skills, as prior experience in tooling repair is not required. Comprehensive training will be provided.

Key responsibilities include mechanical disassembly, inspection of tooling, and the identification of worn or damaged components.

The position is well-suited to candidates who have recently completed an NVQ or similar engineering qualification and possess a strong interest in mechanical engineering. It may also appeal to individuals with some practical experience in an engineering environment who are looking to expand their skills in a specialised area.

Example of Responsibilities:

  • Inspecting and testing a variety of pneumatic tools.
  • Fault diagnosis on a range of power tools.
  • Carrying out routine maintenance on power tools.
  • Track details of all repairs that have taken place, and the parts used during the repair.
  • Conduct stock take to ensure all spare parts are replenished.
  • Repairing a range of tools including:
    • Pneumatic
    • Hydro-pneumatic
    • Battery Powered

Once you develop in the role you can then learn to configure DC Tooling systems with Wi-Fi Communications. You will also learn to service and calibrate DC tooling.

Skills

  • Previous experience in some type of mechanical engineering, servicing, repair or assembly work would be ideal OR a qualification relating to mechanical engineering.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Have a good knowledge of Microsoft Packages.
  • Self-motivated to succeed and
  • A 'can do' attitude is essential.
  • Effective planning and prioritisation of use of time.
