Finance Assistant 

Location: Stroud
Hours: Monday – Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm
Salary: Circa £28,000 + benefits 
Type: Permanent, full-time

Our client, a well-established and values-driven charity based in Stroud, has an exciting opportunity for a Finance Assistant to join their team. This role has arisen due to continued growth and increased financial reporting requirements. The position is fully office-based, and experience with cloud-based accounting software is advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage purchase and sales ledgers, including supplier reconciliations and monitoring outstanding invoices
  • Process and reconcile bank receipts, payments, and monthly bank accounts
  • Prepare bank payment runs and account for payroll, expenses, and petty cash
  • Support month-end close through accruals, prepayments, and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Assist with VAT workings, Gift Aid reporting, and audit preparation
  • Ensure accurate and timely month-end reporting

Candidate Requirements

  • Proven experience in bookkeeping or transactional finance roles
  • Strong experience in purchase ledger, sales ledger, and bank reconciliations
  • Experience in carrying out key monthly balance sheet reconciliations as part of month-end processes
  • Ability to work accurately at pace and meet month-end deadlines
  • Excellent attention to detail with a methodical, organised approach
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills
