About the Role

We are looking for a skilled Mechanical Fitter to join our production team in Stroud. This role involves the mechanical assembly of complex systems and sub-assemblies to the highest quality standards, based on engineering drawings and production instructions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out sub-assembly and final assembly tasks for mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electronic components.

  • Build fabricated assemblies of varying complexity from scratch, using core engineering skills such as marking out, cutting, folding, pipe bending, and joint preparation.

  • Fit hydraulic and pneumatic runs accurately and efficiently.

  • Use hand and power tools to assemble small and large fabricated components.

  • Read and interpret general arrangement and sub-assembly engineering drawings.

  • Check completed assemblies for dimensional accuracy, alignment, and overall quality.

  • Adhere to all company Health & Safety procedures and take responsibility for personal and team safety.

  • Support supervisors and colleagues with production tasks and problem-solving.

  • Perform additional duties as reasonably requested by the business.

Required Skills & Experience
  • Solid background in mechanical or multi-skilled engineering.

  • Experience in assembly work within manufacturing or production environments.

  • Ability to interpret and work from engineering and assembly drawings.

  • Familiarity with hydraulic and pneumatic systems; basic knowledge of electrical systems is beneficial.

  • Strong practical ability and confidence using hand/power tools.

  • Meticulous attention to detail and a proactive, team-oriented attitude.

  • Previous experience in vehicle fitting, marine, military, or aviation sectors is advantageous.

  • Basic understanding of electrical schematics is preferred but not essential.

  • Logical thinker with good problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
