Commissioning Officer 
Location: Gloucester
Rate: £19.32 per hour
Contract: Long-term temporary assignment
Hours: Full-time
Security: Ideally hold a DBS or be willing to obtain one

We are recruiting a Commissioning Officer to support commissioning managers, lead commissioners, and outcome managers in delivering effective, value-for-money services across council outcome areas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support commissioning and procurement activities to meet customer and service needs
  • Assist with market research, analysis, and evidence gathering to inform decisions
  • Support stakeholder and customer engagement activities
  • Undertake contract monitoring with providers
  • Draft specifications in line with commissioning and procurement guidance
  • Contribute to project work, reporting, risk assessment, and performance monitoring

The role will also involve leading lower-risk commissioning exercises and supporting more complex or higher-risk projects.

Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Experience working in a commissioning environment (public sector preferred)
  • Experience supporting procurement, commissioning, or contract management activity
  • Strong analytical, report writing, and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Understanding of public sector policy, legislation, and partnership working
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work to deadlines
