The Job You’ll Do;

  • Estimating: Create detailed cost breakdowns for materials, labour, and ancillary expenses.
  • Bid Preparation: Analyse project documentation (specifications, drawings, and scope) to develop accurate and commercially sound proposals.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate with sales, engineering, and operations teams to ensure smooth project transitions and alignment of commercial objectives.
  • Scope Evaluation: Interpret customer requirements and ensure estimates reflect the full technical and operational scope of work.
  • Budget Oversight: Monitor and manage tender-phase budgets, ensuring alignment with internal financial parameters.
  • Documentation: Maintain organised records of estimates, bids, and key communications. Provide reports to senior stakeholders on pricing trends and estimating accuracy.
  • Team Support: Mentor and review work produced by junior estimators, offering training and technical guidance to support their development.
  • Industry Awareness: Stay informed about market pricing trends, new technologies, and competitor activity to maintain competitive edge.
  • Risk Management: Identify commercial and technical risks in tender opportunities and propose mitigation strategies.

About You;

  • HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or a similar technical field
  • At least 3 years of experience in an estimating role, preferably within the electrical or building services industry
  • Strong technical understanding of low voltage switchgear, electrical systems, and installation standards
  • High attention to detail with strong numerical and analytical skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (especially Excel), with the ability to interpret technical documents and engineering drawings
  • Effective communication, negotiation, and time management abilities
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities with experience guiding junior staff
