Site Engineer


We are recruiting for an experienced Site Engineer to work alongside the Senior Management team delivering a major construction project based in Sunderland.

Key Responsibilities:

• Accurate setting out of civil engineering works on site (earthworks, drainage, foundations, steel frame installations, external works, etc.).
• Interpret and work from construction drawings, plans, and specifications.
• Assist the Site Manager and Project Manager with daily site coordination and supervision.
• Carry out site surveys and as-built surveys using appropriate surveying equipment (Trimble).
• Ensure works are carried out to the correct dimensions, levels, and tolerances.
• Assist in compiling QA/QC documentation, including check sheets and inspection records.
• Liaise with subcontractors, supervisors, planners, quantity surveyors, and the design team.
• Maintain and calibrate equipment, ensuring all instruments are in good working condition.
• Identify any design issues or clashes early and raise them proactively with the site team.
• Promote and maintain a strong health and safety culture.

Skills and Experience:

• Minimum HND/HNC or Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction, or related field.
• Proven experience as a Setting Out Engineer on similar large-scale civil engineering or industrial projects.
• Proficient in using surveying equipment (total stations, GPS, levels).
• Strong technical knowledge of setting out procedures and construction methods.
• Good understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently.
• CSCS card (essential).
• SMSTS/SSSTS (preferred but not essential).
• First Aid at Work (preferred).
