Working Hours:

  • Please note: consultation is underway to move to a 4-day working week in the near future, consolidating some Friday hours into Monday–Thursday.

Job Description:

We are seeking a Maintenance Technician with a strong mechanical bias and a developing or baseline knowledge of electrics. This is a varied role working closely with our experienced electrically biased engineer and supporting staff.

The role involves:

  • Planned and reactive maintenance on a wide range of machinery
  • Fault finding, problem solving, and fitting spare parts
  • Recording and managing breakdown information, repair times, and costs in the PPM system (Pirhana)
  • Supporting KPI analysis for downtime and maintenance planning
  • Organising and overseeing specialist contractors where required
  • Supporting site compliance (e.g., inspections for FLTs, legionella testing, water quality monitoring, fire doors, CCTV, lighting, racking inspections)
  • General site maintenance across both Sunderland and Gateshead sites

Skills & Experience:

  • Strong mechanical skills with some electrical knowledge (training and support available to upskill further)
  • Highly organised with strong record-keeping and data entry skills
  • Experience in machine maintenance, repairs, and fault finding
  • Good problem-solving skills with the ability to escalate and liaise with contractors where necessary
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
