Job Title: Maintenance Technician (Mechanical Bias)

Working Hours:
- Monday to Thursday: 7:15am – 4:00pm (with flexibility around breaks)
- Friday: 7:30am – 12:00pm
- Please note: consultation is underway to move to a 4-day working week in the near future, consolidating some Friday hours into Monday–Thursday.
Job Description:
We are seeking a Maintenance Technician with a strong mechanical bias and a developing or baseline knowledge of electrics. This is a varied role working closely with our experienced electrically biased engineer and supporting staff.
The role involves:
- Planned and reactive maintenance on a wide range of machinery
- Fault finding, problem solving, and fitting spare parts
- Recording and managing breakdown information, repair times, and costs in the PPM system (Pirhana)
- Supporting KPI analysis for downtime and maintenance planning
- Organising and overseeing specialist contractors where required
- Supporting site compliance (e.g., inspections for FLTs, legionella testing, water quality monitoring, fire doors, CCTV, lighting, racking inspections)
- General site maintenance across both Sunderland and Gateshead sites
Skills & Experience:
- Strong mechanical skills with some electrical knowledge (training and support available to upskill further)
- Highly organised with strong record-keeping and data entry skills
- Experience in machine maintenance, repairs, and fault finding
- Good problem-solving skills with the ability to escalate and liaise with contractors where necessary
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
