Venue Manager / Operations Manager- Food, Drink and Leisure Complex Sunderland.

Adkins & Cheurfi Recruitment are delighted to be recruiting for an experienced Venue Manager on behalf of a vibrant hospitality venue in Sunderland. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced hospitality professional to oversee a unique multi-outlet venue and support a large team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the primary point of contact for all operational matters on site, ensuring issues are resolved efficiently and professionally.
  • Oversee staffing rotas across multiple bars, ensuring appropriate cover, compliance with working time regulations, and optimal service delivery.
  • Work closely with company Directors to support strategic objectives, operational planning, and continuous improvement across the venue
  • Collaborate with the Events team to coordinate event set-ups and breakdowns, ensuring smooth execution and exceptional guest experiences.
  • Take full responsibility for site compliance, including health & safety, licensing, and adherence to company policies and legal requirements.
  • Manage HR processes for new starters, including recruitment support, onboarding, inductions, and ongoing staff engagement.
  • Liaise with entertainment providers, suppliers, and production teams to coordinate event builds, technical requirements, and schedules.
  • Oversee stock control and stock-taking procedures, maintaining accurate records and supporting cost control and profitability.
  • Actively promote the venue as a unique hospitality and events destination in Sunderland, championing its brand, culture, and customer experience.

About you:

  • Proven experience in a hospitality, events, or venue management role, ideally within a multi-bar or high-volume environment.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate, develop, and manage diverse teams.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management abilities, capable of juggling multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
  • Confident rota planning and staffing management experience, with a clear understanding of labour control and compliance.
  • Solid knowledge of health & safety, licensing laws, and site compliance within the hospitality sector.
  • Experience supporting HR processes, including onboarding, inductions, and staff engagement.
  • Strong communication skills, able to work collaboratively with Directors, event teams, suppliers, and external partners.
  • Experience liaising with entertainment providers, production teams, or event suppliers is highly desirable.
  • Commercial awareness, including stock control, stock taking, and cost management.
  • Passion for hospitality and events, with a genuine enthusiasm for creating standout guest experiences.
  • Strong brand awareness and confidence in promoting the venue as a leading hospitality and events destination.
