We are seeking two Solution Architects for the same business and therefore the domain experience doesn't need to include all areas mentioned.

This is an exceptional opportunity to join a business that is committed to modernisation and transformation, leveraging skills and technology to help drive their business to succeed.

The Solution Architect will design and deliver technology solutions that align with business objectives and enterprise architecture standards. This role translates business requirements into robust, scalable, and secure solution designs, ensuring interoperability and future readiness across the technology landscape.

You will collaborate closely with business stakeholders, project teams, and other architects to deliver value-driven solutions that support growth and innovation.

The successful Solution Architect will be responsible for the following:

  • Design end-to-end, value-driven technology solutions aligned to enterprise architecture, strategic priorities, and platform roadmaps
  • Develop solution designs that promote standardisation, reusability, interoperability, and sustainability
  • Contribute to the evolution of architecture patterns, standards, and best practices
  • Translate business objectives and functional/non-functional requirements into actionable solution architectures and technology roadmaps
  • Provide solution options and recommendations that balance cost, risk, time-to-value, and long-term maintainability.
  • Engage with product/platform teams and third-party vendors to evaluate technology options, constraints, and risks
  • Lead and assure solution delivery throughout the lifecycle - from discovery and shaping through to build, testing, and implementation
  • Participate in design assurance processes, architecture boards, and governance forums
  • Support portfolio management and investment planning through accurate sizing, estimation, and architectural impact assessment
  • Maintain awareness of emerging technologies and industry trends, assessing their suitability for future ambitions

Skills & Experience

  • Significant experience in solution architecture or related roles within complex organisations
  • Proven ability to design and deliver solutions that achieve business alignment, scalability, interoperability, and compliance with industry frameworks (eg TOGAF, Zachman)
  • Strong technical knowledge across (some, not all of) infrastructure, applications, data, integration, cloud-native solution design (Azure and AWS), and security domains
  • Excellent technical and business stakeholder engagement, facilitation, and influencing skills

Please note that this role will be based in Sunderland with 3 days per week on-site.

Salary and package can be discussed directly.
