TEXO Recruitment are seeking a Quality Assistant on behalf of our external client based in Sunderland. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established business, playing a key role in maintaining the highest standards of quality and compliance across all operations. The position is shift-based, working on a rotating pattern of early and late shifts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure production output consistently meets all company and customer quality requirements and standards.
  • Provide support, guidance, and training to operational teams as needed (e.g., sensory training, basic food hygiene).
  • Plan, prepare, and conduct audits of the Quality Management and Food Safety (HACCP) systems, ensuring corrective actions are identified, implemented, and verified.
  • Oversee the maintenance and calibration of equipment and services used for quality purposes.
  • Ensure routine microbiological testing of plant, raw materials, and finished products.
  • Manage quality consumables on site within the agreed annual budget.
  • Support and co-ordinate trials of new products, materials, and processes as required.
  • Drive continuous improvement by promoting quality and food safety standards through cost-effective methods.
  • Represent the site on quality matters in interactions with customers, suppliers, statutory bodies, and during relevant site meetings.
  • Coach production teams against quality framework standards and act as an ambassador for the quality department.

Requirements

  • Experience working within an FMCG environment, ideally in a Quality function.
  • Experience in developing, implementation and maintenance of food quality management and auditing.
  • Relevant degree (or equivalent) or a minimum of 5 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Intermediate level HACCP certification (essential).
  • Intermediate Food Hygiene qualification.
  • Trained as a Lead Auditor.
