GSL Education are currently recruiting a dynamic and dedicated English Teacher to start immediately in a client secondary school based in Sunderland. This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate educator to make a real difference in a supportive school setting.

About the Role

As an English Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging lessons that promote reading, writing, and critical thinking. You will support pupils in achieving their academic goals while nurturing creativity and a lifelong appreciation for the subject.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver high-quality English lessons in accordance with the national curriculum.
  • Inspire students through diverse texts and innovative teaching strategies.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners, including SEN and EAL pupils.
  • Mark and assess students’ work, providing constructive feedback to support progress.
  • Maintain excellent classroom management and a positive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to contribute to the wider school community.

Requirements of the English Teacher:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • A relevant degree in English or a related field (essential).
  • Strong ability to deliver engaging and effective lessons.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of the English curriculum and a passion for literature and language.
  • Willingness to collaborate with colleagues and contribute to the school community.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional growth.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
