Job Title: Senior Care Assistant

Location: Surbiton, Surrey

Salary: 13.50 - 14.50 per hour

Job Type: Permanent, Full-time - 36hours a week (flexibility to work days and nights)

About the role

  • Assisting patients with personal care and conducting clinical duties
  • Be able to handle physically demanding tasks, such as supporting the weight of patients to aid mobility, turning patients over, and lifting heavy medical equipment

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensuring that supplies and medical equipment are replenished
  • Improving the mobility of patients
  • Setting up equipment required by healthcare professionals
  • Measuring patients' weight on a monthly basis or when required
  • Preparing patients for therapy and adhoc appointments outside of the nursing home
  • Ensure residents are looked after, have appropriate food and fluids amount in relate with their needs and diet plan. Document the fluids and food intake onto the care plan system online
  • Making up beds, tidy of room after you have taken the resident out of bed
  • Document residents' day to day care in the online care plan
  • To have knowledge of the homes policies and procedures
  • To report any equipment defects, kitchen or fire hazard to the manager
  • To report to manager any incidence where residents or staff have been involved
  • To dispose waste in accordance with the home waste disposal policy
  • To ensure safe working practices when handling domestic cleaning supplies
  • To promote and ensure an excellent standard of hygiene during activities and within working area
  • To wear appropriate attire suitable for care (black trousers, uniform and black shoes)
  • To work effectively as a team member in providing and facilitating a high standard of nursing, rides or problem in the home
  • Following the infection control policies and procedures thoroughly

About you

  • Genuine interest in working within a caring environment
  • Diploma Level 2 in Health and social care or above
  • Experience of administering medication- preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients and work colleagues
  • Satisfactory DBS Check and two references
  • Experience of working with the elderly
