We are recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Multiskilled Maintenance & Service Technician to join their on-site team at a prestigious student accommodation project in Leicester. The successful candidate will hold a base trade qualification (minimum NVQ Level 2 or equivalent) in a trade such as Plumbing/HVAC, Carpentry, Electrical, or similar, and have demonstrable experience in a comparable maintenance role.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe Maintenance & Service Technician will undertake a range of Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and Reactive Works, including but not limited to:

Deliver planned and reactive maintenance tasks across student living sites (Seething Wells, Kingston Hill).

Respond to reactive maintenance requests during normal working hours and out-of-hours as part of an on-call rota (company van provided for work-related travel, excluding personal use).

Conduct quarterly shower head and hose cleaning in line with L8 requirements (full training provided).
-
Perform monthly temperature monitoring of hot and cold water systems.
-
Continuously monitor and maintain mechanical systems, fittings, and plant rooms.

Conduct weekly flushing of water outlets in unoccupied rooms.
-
Perform weekly fire alarm testing and bi-annual fire door inspections (full training provided), ensuring accurate fault and damage reporting.

Carry out regular visual inspections and repairs to building fabric, furniture, fixtures, and fittings.

Undertake minor decorating works and repairs in student bedrooms and shared kitchen facilities.

Conduct quarterly RCD function tests.
-
Address faults in domestic water supply, drainage systems, and other plumbing tasks (e.g., resolving blocked toilets/drains, changing taps, shower valves).

Monitor subcontractor activities to ensure standards are met and assist with their work as needed.

Manage stock and critical spares, ensuring accurate usage records.

Record all activities accurately using a mobile application.

Support the wider maintenance team with ad-hoc reactive and PPM tasks.

Follow work instructions, safe working practices, and method statements, completing paperwork accurately and on time.

Maintain cleanliness of plant rooms, workshops, and storage areas.
-
Proactively report faults to equipment, buildings, and fittings.

Safely operate access equipment, hand tools, and power tools in line with health, safety, and manufacturer guidelines.

Undertake training to maintain and develop service requirements.

Communicate effectively with site teams, management, and other project sites as directed.

Essential:

Demonstrable experience in a similar maintenance role.

Trade qualification (minimum NVQ Level 2 or equivalent) in a relevant discipline (e.g., Plumbing, HVAC, Carpentry, Electrical).

Full UK driving licence.

Physically fit, as the role involves considerable walking around the site.

Computer literate with strong organizational and administrative skills.

Effective communication skills.

Ability to work independently or as part of a team, prioritize tasks, and perform effectively under pressure.

Willingness to undergo an enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check.
