Assistant Accountant

Overview

A respected organisation in Sutton Coldfield is seeking an Assistant Accountant to join its finance team.The role offers ongoing training, and generous pension contributions, supporting both your career development and long-term financial security.

Assistant Accountant Responsibilities

You'll be involved in a wide range of financial tasks that ensure the smooth running of the finance department, including:

  • Performing daily bank reconciliations and updating financial records
  • Processing customer receipts and supplier payments using the Copilot system
  • Matching OPAYO receipts with bank transactions for accurate tracking
  • Visiting the bank to deposit cheques when required
  • Preparing monthly statements for customers and suppliers
  • Reviewing staff expense claims for policy compliance
  • Calculating and processing sales commissions
  • Assisting with account queries from the sales team
  • Ensuring timely statutory payments (VAT, wages, pensions, corporate tax)
  • Supporting monthly and quarterly reporting by investigating P&L variances
