Our Manufacturing client based in Sutton In Ashfield is seeking a experienced HSE and Quality individual to join their business on a permanent basis.

Hours : The hours are 40 pw Mon to Fri 8am - 4.30pm (30 minute unpaid daily break)

Salary: Up to 35k

Mission Statement:

To manage the day-to-day Health & Safety, Quality, and Environmental compliance. The role will lead continuous improvement initiatives, maintain ISO certifications, and ensure regulatory compliance while supporting standardisation across the group.

Key Responsibilities:

Health & Safety (Primary Focus):

  • Lead and maintain compliance with ISO 45001 standards.
  • Ensure adherence to all relevant Health & Safety regulations.
  • Conduct risk assessments, incident investigations, and implement corrective actions.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture across the site.
  • Deliver H&S training and toolbox talks as required.

Quality & Environmental (Secondary Focus):

  • Maintain and improve ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 systems.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and respond to internal and external Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).
  • Drive Continuous Improvement initiatives across departments.
  • Supervise and support customer and internal audits.
  • Ensure all documentation is maintained and ready for submission to relevant bodies.

Complaint Investigation & Resolution:

  • Liaise with the Contracts Team to understand complaint context.
  • Analyse production records and customer feedback.
  • Conduct SCRA (Symptoms, Causes, Remedies, Actions) investigations.
  • Provide traceability and resolution reports to stakeholders.
  • Visit customer sites for investigations when necessary.

Team Leadership & Development:

  • Lead and develop the Quality team.
  • Conduct interviews, onboarding, performance reviews, and manage attendance.
  • Handle disciplinary and grievance procedures in line with company policy.
  • Collaborate with HR and Occupational Health as needed.

Compliance & Documentation:

  • Maintain calibration records and coordinate third-party testing.
  • Ensure all compliance records are stored electronically and are audit-ready.
  • Manage distribution and calibration of measuring equipment.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with the Quality Manager, Production Team, and Group H&S to ensure standardisation and best practices.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • NEBOSH Qualification (Essential)
  • Proven experience in Health & Safety leadership, ideally within a production or manufacturing environment
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 standards
  • Experience in root cause analysis, NCR management, and continuous improvement
  • Strong audit and compliance background
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
