Supplier Quality Engineer Swadlincote, DE11£38,000 - £42,000 plus excellent benefits including rising holiday, pension, early Friday finish

Are you a quality-focused engineer with a passion for supplier development and technical excellence? My client is looking for an experienced Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) to ensure that their global supply base meets the highest standards in product quality, performance, and compliance.

Your Mission

As a Supplier Quality Engineer, your core mission is to ensure that all products supplied meet technical specifications and comply with the Supplier Quality Manual. You’ll be a global resource, actively engaging with suppliers to drive continuous improvement and support cross-functional teams on technical quality matters. You’ll work closely with our Procurement, Engineering, and Quality teams as well as a diverse portfolio of global suppliers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Global Supplier Oversight– Perform and support supplier audits– Plan, execute and follow up annual audit schedules– Qualify, requalify, or phase out suppliers in collaboration with Procurement
  • Process Development– Create and refine global processes, procedures, and forms related to supplier quality
  • Supplier Performance Management– Monitor supplier KPIs and NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports)– Drive supplier improvements and ensure timely closure of quality issues
  • Internal Support– Work closely with Procurement, Design, and Operations teams– Conduct SFAI (Supplier First Article Inspection) for new suppliers/products– Provide quality expertise in supplier evaluations

What You’ll Need to Succeed

  • Education: Engineering degree (preferably with a quality qualification)
  • Experience: Background in the railway industry or similar (aerospace, automotive etc) preferred
  • Skills:– Strong Microsoft Office skills– Knowledge of IRIS quality standards highly desirable– Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
  • Auditor training / certifications preferred
