About the Role

As an Enforcement Officer, you'll play a key role in maintaining public order and safety across Swanage Town Council's facilities. This includes monitoring parking compliance, patrolling public spaces, enforcing local regulations, and supporting the safe operation of council-owned areas. The role requires strong communication skills, a professional approach, and the ability to work outdoors in all conditions, including weekends and public holidays.

What is the day-to-day of the role:

  • Monitor car parks and issue excess charge notices for violations
  • Inspect and maintain ticket machines; report faults
  • Patrol council-owned areas (e.g., parks, beach, recreation grounds) to enforce local regulations
  • Provide public advice and ensure compliance with dog control orders
  • Open/close overflow car parks and secure council facilities
  • Conduct health and safety checks on public areas and flotation aids
  • Support emergency access and manage safety during events
  • Report incidents and liaise with police when required
  • Remove dog waste when necessary (PPE provided)
  • Follow council policies and undertake training as needed

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Full UK manual driving licence (Essential)
  • DBS check required (Essential)
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends and public holidays (Essential)
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all conditions (Essential)
