Are you a financial accountant who thrives on solving complex problems? Do you want to play a key role in a major finance transformation? Ready to take ownership of year-end accounts and drive continuous improvement? If yes, look no further!
A large and complex organisation is looking for a Financial Accountant to take the lead on statutory reporting for one of its most high-profile areas. This is a fantastic opportunity to step into a visible, varied role with real scope for development. Based in Swindon, with four days able to be worked at home, you’ll join a collaborative and forward-thinking finance team during a period of major change.
The key duties of this Financial Accountant will be as follows:
- Lead on the production of monthly, interim, and year-end financial accounts for your business area
- Own the monthly reconciliations and balance sheet, investigating and resolving anomalies
- Act as subject matter expert for your area, advising on depreciation, provisions, leases, and capital spend
- Work closely with finance business partners, auditors, and internal stakeholders to ensure accurate reporting
- Take the lead on audit preparation, including producing data sets, drafting audit papers, and liaising with the wider business to resolve queries
- Contribute to group consolidation by preparing notes to the accounts and supporting detailed trial balance submissions
- Play a key role in the transition to a new system, embedding new processes and driving improvements across the team
- Potential to supervise junior team members in future as the function continues to evolve
This organisation is undergoing significant transformation, including a major systems implementation and a broader restructure across finance. You’ll be joining a large finance team with huge scope for learning, cross-functional projects, and progression. There’s a strong culture of collaboration, problem-solving and continuous improvement. You’ll have the freedom to challenge, take initiative, and become a subject matter expert in the areas that interest you most – whether that’s fixed assets, audit, or financial reporting.
The successful candidate will have:
- A CCAB qualification (or be part-qualified/studying)
- Strong experience preparing financial accounts, including notes to the accounts and reconciliations
- Knowledge of balance sheet management, provisions, depreciation, and audit processes
- Excellent communication skills – you’ll be speaking to colleagues across the organisation to understand what’s happening and why
- Public sector experience is welcome but not essential – the team is open to backgrounds from any sector.
