Assistant Design Manager - Swindon

Excellent opportunity to move from a Design consultancy into Design management for a Rail Contractor

Salary -£40,000 - £45,000 basic + Car or Allowance + Package

Locations - Swindon

Hybrid working, but a minimum of 3 days a week in Network Rail offices

Role Description

The Resolute Group are working in partnership with a Tier 1 contractor delivering Infrastructure projects across the UK. With an opportunity coming up in their Rail division to work under a Design Manager in delivering the CP7 framework in the Wales and Western region for the next 5 - 10 years.

Responsible for the management, coordination and integration of the Rail systems from the Design consultancy to the site delivery team. The Design Coordinator is a Project Manager for the design team, interfacing with both internal and external stakeholders. Taking a lead in meetings to ensure the design process is being delivered correctly, with any modifications undertaken, recorded and updated across the systems and associated stakeholders.

Day-to-day duties will vary but could include:

  • Co-ordinates with the design teams and other relevant parties to gather information on the coordination documents showing interface clashes with third parties.
  • Monitor and manage the Interface management, communicating any technical issues relative to interfaces from the Design to Delivery teams.
  • Participate in the resolution of any technical issues relative to the integration of systems.
  • Takes part in internal workshop/design review meetings.
  • Conducts design review meetings and drafts the minutes.
  • Follows up with stakeholders to ensure milestones are being achieved on time.
  • Ensure the work is being carried out against the agreed designs and specification from the client and contractual terms.

This is a site-based role, working out of the site offices minimum of 3 days a week with 2 days a week from home or as required by the business. This is a perfect step from a consultancy in to a main contractor, gaining more site-based experience to enable you to gain chartership.

Required Experience

  • Degree qualified, Ideal in an Engineering subject.
  • Post-graduation experience in a UK-based consultancy, Ideal Rail focused on projects be it, P-way, Signalling, OHL, Civil Engineering etc..

This is a great role for someone interested in moving away from hands-on Design or working in a consultancy environment and wants to deliver a project on site
