Location: Swindon, Wiltshire
Salary: £38,000 – £48,000 (DOE)
Hours: 37.5 per week (Mon–Thurs 07:45–16:45, Fri 07:45–12:30)

The Role

As a Harness Engineer, you’ll play a key role in turning customer concepts into production-ready designs. Working closely with Engineering, Quality, Operations and Business Development teams, you will ensure wiring harnesses are designed, developed and delivered to the highest possible standard.

You’ll support the full product lifecycle—from customer specification and prototype development to production integration, documentation control and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed harness designs, drawings and Bills of Materials (BOMs)
  • Monitor engineering projects to ensure efficient, on-time delivery
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, QA/QC policies and technical specifications
  • Liaise with customers to understand requirements and translate them into production-ready documents
  • Support the quotation process and provide technical input
  • Oversee prototype builds and First Article products
  • Drive assembly process improvements to maximise efficiency and reduce variability
  • Support PFMEA activities for new and existing products
  • Assist with cost-reduction initiatives by evaluating alternate components and suppliers
  • Support product integration into production, including tooling and jig requirements
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities across the site
  • Oversee and maintain accurate document and data management processes
  • Contribute to APQP and PPAP development
  • Carry out additional duties as required by management

What You’ll Need

Qualifications:

  • A-Level education minimum (Maths & English)
  • HND in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering

Experience:

  • Previous experience in harnessing or electronics manufacturing (preferred)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with Harnware and Visio (preferred, training available)
