We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of IT to lead and develop our IT Services. This pivotal role will shape the school’s technology landscape, supporting teaching, learning, administration, and digital safeguarding. Reporting to the Deputy Head, you will collaborate closely with the Deputy Head, Bursar, Digital Learning Lead, and Senior Management Team to drive the IT strategy and ensure an outstanding service delivery across the school community.

About the Role

As Director of IT, you will take ownership of the school’s IT strategy and operations, ensuring technology effectively supports educational and business needs. You will oversee IT infrastructure, systems, service delivery, cybersecurity, and digital learning initiatives. Leading a dedicated IT team, you will manage budgets, drive innovation, and ensure a high level of service across the school.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the school’s IT and Digital Learning strategies.
  • Manage IT infrastructure, systems, and service desk operations to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Ensure robust data security, GDPR compliance, and maintain the school’s IT risk register.
  • Collaborate with the Safeguarding Team on filtering, monitoring, and online safety measures.
  • Support teaching and learning by providing reliable, efficient, and up-to-date IT resources.
  • Lead and develop the IT team, managing recruitment, performance, and professional development.
  • Advise senior leadership on technology investments and drive continuous improvement.

About You

  • Proven experience in a senior IT management role, ideally within a school or regulated environment.
  • Strong project management skills and experience managing IT budgets.
  • In-depth knowledge of data protection, GDPR, and cybersecurity best practices.
  • A collaborative leader with experience managing technical teams.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proactive, flexible, and committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils.
