The Company

Roberts & Prowse, based in Elgin Industrial Estate, Swindon, Wiltshire, is a leading Mechanical, Electrical and Building Services Contractor operating throughout the Home Counties, South West, and South East of the UK. Due to sustained growth and continued success, we are seeking a Multiskilled Maintenance Operative (Building, Plumbing, Carpentry)to join our dynamic team within MOD and building division.

The Role

As a Multiskilled Maintenance Operative, you will report directly to the Building Contracts Managers Your primary responsibility will be to carry out a wide range of maintenance, repairs, and general building works within commercial environments initially across Wiltshire, Oxfordshire & Gloucestershire.

Duties will include:

  • General site maintenance, routine maintenance, cosmetic upkeep and preventative maintenance & project works.

  • Carrying out minor structural repairs patch plastering, painting and decorating

  • Basic carpentry experience including installing stud walls, doors & frames, architraves, skirtings, locks, kitchen units etc.

  • Basic plumbing, including installing & maintaining sanitary ware.

  • Identifying and reporting any faults or maintenance issues

  • Ensuring all work are completed to a high standard while adhering to health and safety regulations

The Person:

To be considered for this role, you should be an experienced multiskilled craftsman with a proven track record in maintenance and repair work within commercial environments.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role

  • Proficiency in general building maintenance repairs & projects.

  • Basic carpentry and joinery skills 1st and 2nd fix, and finals

  • Basic plumbing experience

  • Knowledge of painting, decorating and finishing works

  • Ability to work independently and effectively under minimal supervision

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail

  • Full UK Driving License

  • CSCS Card Holder (advantageous)

  • DBS Clearance (advantageous)

Your previous positions may include: Maintenance Engineer, Handyman, Facilities Maintenance Engineer, General Builder, Property Maintenance Technician, Site Maintenance Engineer, or Multiskilled Engineer.
