Finance/Debt Advisor - Ex-Offenders
Across North Yorkshire
Up to £27,500 per year
Full-time, Permanent
Job Description:

We are recruiting an FBD Advisor to support people in the community (probation service/Activity Hubs) with finances, benefits and debt advise and support. The role focuses on helping individuals stabilise their financial situation, access the right benefits and work towards greater independence. You’ll work in both community and prison settings, delivering high-quality, compliant support that makes a genuine difference. Please note: this is not a role suitable for debt collectors or those working in financial institutions, you need experience supporting people to manage their wider debt.
What you’ll do

  • Manage a varied caseload, providing one-to-one support in probation service settings.
  • Help participants address debt, set up repayment plans and improve budgeting skills.
  • Guide individuals through benefit access and the responsibilities linked to claims.
  • Liaise with landlords, creditors and other organisations to resolve practical issues.
  • Ensure accurate, timely recording of all interactions and progress.

What you’ll bring

  • Experience working with ex-offenders or marginalised groups.
  • Strong understanding of debt, personal finance challenges and benefit requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to motivate and build trust.
  • Confidence working to targets, with good organisation and IT skills.
  • Flexibility to travel and work within prison environments when required.

Due to the nature of this role, you will have access to your own vehicle and you will be required to complete an online Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and enhanced security clearance vetting.

If this sounds like the perfect role for you then please submit your CV.
