Teacher of Design and Technology - North Yorkshire

We are seeking an enthusiastic and innovative Design and Technology Teacher to join a thriving secondary school community in North Yorkshire. This is an excellent opportunity for a creative and committed practitioner to inspire students through hands-on learning, problem-solving, and design thinking. The successful candidate will teach Design and Technology across Key Stages 3 and 4 and play an active role in promoting a culture of creativity, technical skill, and innovation.

The department is well-equipped with modern workshops, CAD/CAM facilities, and specialist tools that support practical and digital aspects of the curriculum.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality Design and Technology lessons to students of all abilities across KS3 and KS4
  • Inspire a passion for designing, making, and problem-solving through engaging and practical lessons
  • Plan and deliver creative and challenging schemes of work across a range of materials and contexts
  • Support and promote extracurricular activities related to design, engineering, and technology
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of the D&T curriculum and assessment strategies
  • Promote positive behaviour and uphold high expectations in line with school policies
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues in the D&T department and the wider school community

Person Specification:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • A degree in Design and Technology or a related subject
  • Experience teaching D&T at secondary level (including areas such as Product Design, Resistant Materials, Engineering, Graphics, or Textiles)
  • Strong subject knowledge and practical workshop skills
  • Ability to engage and motivate students through a blend of creativity and technical expertise
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people
