Do you have a passion for and experience with working alongside young people between the ages of 10 to 19?

We are looking for a part time youth worker to run two sessions per week at The Point, Tadley. Working hours would be Tuesday from 5.45pm to 9pm and Wednesday 5.45pm to 7.30pm. Along with one Friday evening per month from 6.30pm to 9.30pm.

  • The appointment is subject to satisfactory DBS and successful completion of a probationary period.

Note: It is the responsibility of all staff to ensure that all work undertaken operates within the policies and procedures of Tadley & District Community Association.

Main Tasks

Work with young people

  • To create a safe, welcoming environment for young people
  • To develop positive relationships with young people.
  • To create opportunities, which enable young people to take an interest in the local, national and global community and explore ways that they can influence those communities.
  • To create opportunities for young people to explore issues that are important to them and enable them to make more informed choices about their actions and their lives.
  • Ensure that young people have relevant information and support and the opportunity to discuss and explore that information.

Programme

  • To participate in the planning, implementationand running of programmes that meet the identified needs of young people and which are challenging, exciting and fun.
  • To deliver a programme of opportunities which cover the five key curriculum areas.
  • To enable young people to develop personal and social skills and high aspirations.
  • To involve young people in democracy and decision making.
  • To promote the social inclusion of young people.
  • To encourage young people in new and challenging experiences.
  • To encourage young people to lead healthy lifestyles.
  • To participate in preparation and evaluation of youth work sessions with other project staff.
  • To ensure that written evaluations are produced with identified outcomes for young people.

Performance development

  • To attend approved in-service training as agreed with your line manager. (to fit around with other commitments candidate may have).

Other duties

  • Other appropriate duties as requested by your line manager.
  • Ensure the centre is kept in a clean and safe condition, paying special attention to the end of session protocols.

A recognised Youth work qualification or equivalent.

Full driving licence.

An understanding of the current needs of young people and the major issues they face and an ability to deliver work to counteract and meet their needs.

Job Type: Part-time, 12 month initial contract.
