Mechanical Design Engineer Responsibilities:
- Design and develop flow control products (valves, actuators, manifolds)
- Perform detailed engineering analyses (calculations, test plans, qualification plans) for performance and reliability
- Review external validation data (FEA, CFD, physical test results)
- Ensure compliance with industry and government standards for quality and safety
- Manage end-to-end engineering process from concept through manufacture, assembly, and test
- Create prototypes and oversee functional and environmental testing
- Generate engineering documentation, including calculations, plans, and technical instructions
- Produce GA and component drawings to BS8888 standards, applying GD&T and DfM principles
Additional Requirements:

Required Experience:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 6–10 years’ experience in mechanical design, ideally with valve/hydraulic system
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred)
- Strong knowledge of fluid control systems and products (valves, manifolds, actuators)
- Experience creating calculations and design/product validation
- Familiarity with engineering/quality tools (APQP, FMEA, 8D, 5Y)
- Customer interaction experience (specification interpretation, design reviews)
- Membership with an Engineering Institution (IMechE, IET, etc.) desirable
