Operations Clerk Job Role Overview

This position is responsible for overseeing the full spectrum of operational activities within the department, with a strong focus on international and domestic freight services. The role requires collaboration across departments, client interaction, financial oversight, and a dedication to service excellence.

Operations Clerk Key Responsibilities

Operational Management

  • Oversee and manage all international and domestic freight operations (import/export via air, sea, courier, and land).
  • Take full responsibility for the department’s operational effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Identify and address business trends—both positive and negative—developing solutions in collaboration with the Branch and Operations teams.
  • Promote and implement Best Practice processes to optimise gross profit and minimise financial risks.
  • Ensure new business implementations follow structured processes to uphold service standards.
  • Manage files and costs effectively, ensuring accuracy and control throughout.

Account and Financial Management

  • Support the Sales team in account development and retention.
  • Maximise profitability across all accounts; highlight and address underperforming or loss-making accounts with management.
  • Liaise with the Finance team to resolve issues related to payables and receivables.
  • Contribute to procurement efficiency by identifying key trade lanes with the Product team.

Customer and Supplier Relations

  • Act as the primary link between customers and suppliers to meet delivery expectations.
  • Provide quotations and monitor performance through centralised platforms.
  • Ensure timely and professional resolution of customer issues.
  • Consistently deliver high standards of customer service, exceeding expectations where possible.
