About the Role
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Maintenance Development Engineer to join a well-established manufacturing organisation based in Tamworth.
This role offers the chance to take ownership of high-level engineering projects, drive plant and process improvements, and play a key part in shaping maintenance strategy across a busy production site.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you'll lead and deliver projects that enhance plant performance and reliability. You'll also champion preventative maintenance and continuous improvement activities, mentoring colleagues and embedding best practice throughout the engineering function.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, develop, and implement site-wide engineering projects to agreed timescales and budgets.
Oversee installation and commissioning of new plant and equipment in line with relevant standards and legislation.
Provide high-level production support, including advanced fault finding and problem resolution.
Develop and optimise the plant's planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedule.
Lead and coordinate Continuous Improvement (CI) and TPM activities across the site.
Manage and prioritise PPM activities and ensure timely, effective repairs.
Analyse performance data and prepare key metrics and reports.
Conduct root cause analysis and train others in structured problem-solving techniques.
Promote and uphold best practices in maintenance standards and safe working.
Provide out-of-hours engineering support to key operations when required.
What We're Looking For
HNC (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline.
Strong working knowledge of plastics processing machinery.
Electrically biased with solid mechanical aptitude.
Proven experience maintaining bulk delivery systems and extrusion equipment.
Strong computer skills for data analysis, reporting, and documentation.
Experience with PLC programming and fault finding (desirable).
Knowledge of TPM, Continuous Improvement, or Lean methodologies (desirable).
Desirable Qualifications
Lean Six Sigma - Green Belt certification.
Suitable electrical or mechanical engineering qualifications.
Previous experience within maintenance, process improvement, or CI-focused roles.
Performance Measures
Delivery of projects on time and in full.
Adherence to planned maintenance schedules.
Reduction in downtime and improvement in equipment performance.
Successful delivery of CI and TPM initiatives.
