FMCG Manufacturing | 4 on 4 off | Days & Nights | £52000

 

If you’re someone who’s happy getting their hands dirty, fixing real problems, and keeping the plant running the way it should.

You’ll be part of the team that keeps production moving by maintaining, repairing and improving plant equipment. From breakdowns to planned maintenance, you’ll be trusted to do the job properly.

If you’re the type who enjoys fault-finding, preventative maintenance and working on large, specialist machinery, this role will suit you.

 

The role

You’ll be hands-on, day in, day out, working across a wide range of mechanical systems.

You will:

  • Respond to breakdowns and troubleshoot mechanical faults
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM)
  • Maintain, repair and improve plant equipment to maximise reliability
  • Work on hydraulics, pneumatics, drive chains and bearings
  • Carry out bearing fitting and alignment
  • Undertake fabrication, welding and fitting work as required
  • Support continuous improvement by identifying recurring issues and fixing them properly
  • Work safely at all times and follow site health and safety standards

This is a varied role. You won’t be stuck doing the same task every day. You’ll use skills from fitting, fabrication, welding and servicing, depending on what the plant needs.

Shift pattern

  • 4 on 4 off
  • 6:00am to 6:00pm
  • 12 noon to 12 midnight

 

What You’ll Need

You’ll be a mechanically biased engineer with experience in a manufacturing or factory environment and a minimum Level 3 engineering qualification.

Just as important as your skills is your attitude.

You’ll need to:

  • Take health and safety seriously — no shortcuts
  • Be hands-on, flexible and comfortable in a busy environment
  • Be physically fit enough for a demanding role
  • Work well as part of a team and communicate clearly

You should also have:

  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving ability
  • Good working knowledge of EHS processes
  • Experience diagnosing faults on hydraulics, pneumatics and drive systems

Desirable experience

  • Time-served apprenticeship
  • HNC or HND (or equivalent)
  • Background in heavy industry manufacturing
  • Knowledge of cutting and grinding regulations
  • Arc and MIG welding or basic fabrication
