Our client in Taunton is looking for a Finance Officer to join their busy school in a temporary to permanent position. While the role is term-time only, there is flexibility for full-time or part-time hours for the right candidate. The Finance Officer will assist the Business Manager in managing day-to-day finances, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and overseeing financial tasks per established checklists. **Main Responsibilities:**- Supervise the finance assistant and provide necessary support. - Ensure compliance of all financial transactions with the finance policy and Academies Financial Handbook. - Complete monthly reconciliations and reconcile control accounts with expenditure accounts. - Oversee Visa statement processing and complete the monthly financial checklist. - Prepare monthly VAT claims and monitor budgets. - Manage the debtor report to ensure timely collection of funds. - Assist with annual audited accounts and maintain year-end schedules. - Authorise supplier BACS payment runs and maintain the annual school inventory. - Supervise the handling of school funds and improve collection practices, including debt recovery. - Address supplier queries and resolve payment issues. - Complete and submit financial returns on behalf of the Academy. **Qualifications:** Candidates should ideally have an ACCA or AAT qualification in Accountancy or relevant experience. Finance Officer Hourly rate: GBP14.36 - GBP16.10 per hour. Temp to Perm, must be available at short notice.
