RTL Group are currently seeking an experienced Package Manager to join a leading civil engineering contractor on an earthworks and RC structures project in Taunton.

This is a 6 to 8-month contract, with the potential for extension depending on project progress.

As Package Manager, you will take ownership of specific civil engineering work packages – overseeing subcontractor coordination, planning, delivery, and quality assurance from pre-start through to handover.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the delivery of assigned civil works packages (structures, drainage, earthworks, utilities, etc.)

  • Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and internal engineering teams

  • Review RAMS, permits, and ITPs to ensure safety and compliance

  • Drive productivity while monitoring programme milestones and reporting risks

  • Liaise with commercial teams to support valuations, variations, and procurement

  • Ensure QA processes and handover documentation are followed

  • Attend daily site coordination and progress meetings

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in civil engineering project delivery

  • Strong background in managing subcontract packages – ideally within highways, infrastructure, or heavy civils

  • Proven site management or engineering leadership experience

  • SMSTS, CSCS (Gold/Black), and First Aid qualifications essential

  • Ability to read technical drawings and work closely with engineering teams

  • Excellent communication, organisational and coordination skills

  • Experience working under NEC or similar contracts desirable
