Elite Staffing Solutions are seeking a detail-oriented and motivatedAccounts Assistantto join our client's busy team. This role is ideal for someone with a strong interest in accounting and finance, looking to grow their skills in a supportive and professional environment.

You will support the team in delivering accounting, bookkeeping, and tax services to a diverse portfolio of clients across various sectors. This is a great opportunity to gain exposure to a wide range of clients and accounting processes in a practice setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with accounts preparation
  • Maintain client records and ledgers using accounting software (using Xero)
  • Bank reconciliations and processing bank payments
  • Assist in preparing VAT returns and submissions to HMRC
  • Support with the preparation of year-end accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies
  • Liaise with clients to gather financial information and resolve queries
  • Assist with payroll processing and CIS returns (if applicable)
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in line with practice and regulatory standards
  • Support the senior team with ad hoc tasks and administrative duties as required

Key Requirements:

  • Previous experience in an accountancy practice (preferred but not essential)
  • Basic knowledge of accounting principles and bookkeeping
  • Familiarity with Xero
  • Excellent attention to detail and high levels of accuracy
  • Good communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to manage time effectively and work to deadlines
  • AAT Level 2/3 or studying towards an accounting qualification (desirable)
