Job Title: Homelessness Prevention OfficerContract: Interim – Full TimeDay Rate: £27.35 LTD / £22 PAYELocation: Hybrid – 2 days per week in office (duty rota), remainder remoteWe are currently recruiting for an experienced Homelessness Prevention Officer to join a dynamic housing team on an interim basis. In this vital role, you will work with individuals at risk of homelessness to provide advice, support and practical solutions, helping to prevent homelessness and promote housing stability.Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide tailored advice and assistance to individuals who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.
  • Help applicants explore their housing options and secure suitable accommodation.
  • Manage a caseload of clients alongside participation in a duty rota (approximately 2 days per week in the office).
  • Offer timely referrals and signposting to appropriate support services including mental health, welfare, domestic abuse and substance misuse support.
  • Work in partnership with internal departments and external agencies to prevent homelessness and reduce rough sleeping.
  • Ensure all casework complies with statutory duties under the Homelessness Reduction Act and relevant housing legislation.
  • Maintain accurate case records and contribute to service improvement through effective data collection and feedback.
Requirements:
  • Experience working in housing advice or homelessness prevention services.
  • Strong knowledge of the Housing Act 1996 (as amended) and Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.
  • Able to manage a varied caseload while working flexibly across duty cover and remote working arrangements.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage sensitively with vulnerable individuals.
  • Confident using case management systems and working within performance targets.
