Reed Education Cardiff and Bristol are currently seeking a passionate Nurture Teacher to fulfil a temporary position within a specialist day school for pupils aged 11-16 with Autism Spectrum Conditions, Social, Emotional and associated needs. Unqualified teachers would be considered for this role due to the temporary placement.
Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic Nurture Teacher to start immediately on a temporary, ongoing contract. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of a variety of SEMH needs, including complex needs and Autism, and will be adept at creating a bespoke curriculum to meet the diverse learning requirements of each student.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create and deliver personalized lessons and activities that cater to the unique needs and abilities of students with SEMH, ensuring all learners can access and benefit from the curriculum.
- Employ diverse teaching strategies and resources to captivate students with Autism and cultivate a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Work collaboratively with educators, support staff, and external professionals to develop comprehensive support plans and interventions for students with complex needs.
- Track student progress diligently, regularly assessing learning outcomes and adapting teaching methods to optimize academic success and personal growth.
- Build strong, supportive relationships with students, offering pastoral care and guidance to enhance their social and emotional well-being.
- Keep detailed records of student progress, attendance, and behaviour, and actively participate in review meetings and consultations with parents/carers
Qualifications and Skills:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Comprehensive understanding of SEMH needs, including complex and Autism, and the ability to adapt teaching approaches to tailor to individual pupils
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents/carers.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to plan and deliver engaging lessons and activities.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and a passion for inclusive education.
