Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled Food Service Business Development Manager to join our client's team. This role is pivotal in identifying, developing, and driving new business opportunities within the food services sector. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with the ability to build strong client relationships, understand market dynamics, and collaborate closely with internal teams to meet client needs. A deep understanding of the food service sector, strong sales and negotiation skills, and a passion for driving growth are essential.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Identify and Develop New Business Opportunities: Lead the identification, prospecting, and development of new business relationships with key accounts in the food service industry, including restaurants, food distributors, and catering services.
- Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain long-lasting relationships with existing and potential customers. Understand their needs, offer tailored food solutions, and ensure exceptional service throughout the business relationship.
- Market Research and Competitive Analysis: Conduct market research to identify emerging trends, new market opportunities, and customer preferences. Analyze competitor offerings to position the company’s products effectively.
- Sales Strategy Development: Develop and execute sales strategies to drive revenue growth in the food services sector, including product offerings, pricing models, and go-to-market approaches.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with NPD, production, and logistics teams to ensure that customer needs are met and that new products are successfully launched into the market.
- Negotiations and Contract Management: Lead contract negotiations and ensure that terms and conditions align with business objectives. Manage pricing strategies and ensure profitability while maintaining customer satisfaction.
- Sales Forecasting and Reporting: Develop and maintain accurate sales forecasts. Track sales performance, report progress to senior leadership, and adjust strategies to meet goals.
- Customer Education: Educate clients on the full range of products, services, and solutions that the company offers. Provide insights on industry trends, food innovations, and culinary applications to support client success.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in business development or sales, specifically within the food manufacturing, food service, or CPG (consumer packaged goods) industries.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Proven track record of successfully developing and closing business opportunities in the food service sector.
- Strong understanding of the food manufacturing process, supply chain, and food service operations.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
