Senior Civil Engineer Job Overview

As a Senior Civil Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering infrastructure design packages for a range of projects across the UK and internationally. You'll be responsible for producing civil designs that are innovative, sustainable, and aligned with construction feasibility.

In this role you will:

  • Lead and support the design and delivery of civil engineering schemes, particularly highway and drainage design.
  • Develop 3D civil infrastructure models using Autodesk Civil 3D and other industry-standard tools.
  • Prepare drawings, specifications, calculations, and reports to support planning and construction.
  • Provide technical input at all stages of the project lifecycle from feasibility through to construction.
  • Liaise with clients, stakeholders, contractors, and other design teams.
  • Ensure projects meet internal standards, client expectations, and relevant regulations.
  • Mentor and support junior engineers and technicians.


Senior Civil Engineer Job Requirements

  • BEng/MEng in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a civil engineering role, preferably in consultancy
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D is essential
  • Strong understanding of highway design, drainage systems, and sustainable drainage principles (SuDS)
  • Knowledge of UK design standards and regulations (e.g., DMRB, Sewers for Adoption)
  • Confident communicator and experienced in collaborative project environments
  • Chartered or working towards chartership with ICE (preferred
