Your new companyHays is partnering with a fast-paced and highly successful manufacturing company in Telford, seeking a Cost Analyst to join their team on a part-time, permanent basis (approximately 24 hours per week). Your new roleThis essential role supports key business decisions by ensuring robust, timely, and precise reporting on manufacturing performance.Key Responsibilities:

  • Manufacturing Cost Analysis - Conduct in-depth reviews of direct and variable costs, including variable labour, machine efficiency, and material usage, comparing actual results to standard expectations.
  • Financial Reporting & Reconciliation - Prepare and process monthly management account journals, ensuring accurate reconciliation of balance sheet accounts.
  • Operational & Supply Chain Insights - Generate monthly variance reports for operational and supply chain managers, covering areas such as purchase price variances, taxes, and landed costs.
  • Inventory & Stock Control - Oversee stock valuation, adjustments, and provisions, monitoring obsolescence, negative stocks, and quarantined inventory.
  • Standard Costing & Business Change Management - Lead year-end standard costing processes, support budgeting efforts, and manage costing analysis for new products and product amendments.
  • Intercompany Transfer Pricing - Ensure compliance and efficiency in cross-border product pricing and business change requests for new products.

This is a highly impactful role that combines financial expertise with operational understanding, helping shape strategic decisions within the business.What you'll need to succeedOur client is seeking an accounting professional with strong analytical skills to play a key role as the liaison between accounts and production. Ideally, you'll have experience in manufacturing, though this is not essential.This dynamic and impactful role requires an outgoing personality and exceptional communication skills to effectively gather information from the production team and build strong relationships.Experience in estimating, costings, cost analysis, and cost engineering would be advantageous. However, the company welcomes candidates looking to develop their careers in this field-provided they possess the right soft skills and a keen interest in financial data and operational insights.The ideal candidate will have strong analytical abilities and be comfortable working with large volumes of data to support financial decision-making and efficiency improvements.
