This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Senior Buyer to step into a commercially focused role within a forward-thinking and quality-driven organisation. Working as part of a collaborative team producing high-value, technically complex products for a global customer base, youll support the Purchasing Manager in a broad range of responsibilities. These include managing day-to-day procurement activity, contributing to strategic sourcing initiatives, driving cost control across various project phases, and ensuring effective supplier engagement and performance throughout the supply chain.
The Senior Buyer will be responsible for:
- Lead procurement for high-value, complex goods and services across multiple categories.
- Collaborate with internal teams to define requirements, support project delivery, and manage procurement risks.
- Prepare RFQs, evaluate suppliers, negotiate contracts, and manage purchase orders.
- Monitor supplier performance, maintain records, and lead ongoing relationship development.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, QSE standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Drive cost reduction through analysis, strategic sourcing, and supplier negotiations.
- Identify and implement procurement process improvements to boost efficiency and value.
- Manage import/export documentation and ensure customs compliance.
- Oversee fleet administration, including vehicle records, insurance, and service coordination.
- Support and execution of sustainable procurement practices
Skills and Experience required:
- Previous experience in a Senior Purchasing / Procurement / Senior Buyer type role ideally within engineering, construction, or complex project-based environments
- Strong commercial acumen with a track record of negotiating high-value contracts and delivering cost savings
- In-depth understanding of end-to-end procurement processes, supply chain management, and strategic sourcing
- Proficient in using ERP/MRP systems and digital procurement software
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence at all levels
- Knowledge of sustainability practices in procurement and experience contributing to environmental reporting initiatives
- CIPS Qualification advantageous but not essential
