Job Purpose

To provide high-quality care and support to children and young people living in residential care, ensuring their physical, emotional, and developmental needs are met in line with their individual care plans.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain positive, trusting relationships with children and young people.

  • Provide daily care routines, including morning routines, school runs, mealtimes, and bedtime.

  • Support children with educational, recreational, and therapeutic activities.

  • Promote positive behaviour, manage challenging behaviour using appropriate techniques, and follow individual behaviour support plans.

  • Maintain accurate records of incidents, care plans, risk assessments, and daily logs.

  • Ensure the safety and well-being of children at all times.

  • Liaise with social workers, teachers, and other professionals.

  • Follow safeguarding procedures and report any concerns immediately.

  • Promote independence, life skills, and social development.

  • Participate in staff meetings, training, and supervision sessions.

Essential Requirements

  • Experience working with children or young people (preferably in a residential setting).

  • NVQ Level 3 in Children and Young People/ Childrens Residential

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Resilience and emotional maturity.

  • Ability to work shifts, including weekends and sleep-ins.
