We’re looking for an experienced Executive Chef to lead the food operation at a prestigious independent boarding school near Tetbury – a high-end site with fresh, seasonal food and high standards across all service points.

This is a brilliant opportunity for a head chef or exec chef with a background in independent education or volume fresh food to take full ownership of a large, well-equipped kitchen and a passionate team – while enjoying a work-life balance that’s hard to find in hospitality.

What’s on offer:

  • £50,000 per year
  • 40 hours/week – mainly Monday to Friday (some weekend events)
  • Day shifts only: earliest start 6.30am, latest finish 7pm (occasional 10pm finish for events)
  • Christmas off
  • Free meals on shift, uniform provided, pension scheme, and company perks

The Role:

  • Oversee a kitchen team of 10, including sous chefs, pastry, CDPs and KPs
  • Deliver fresh, high-quality food for up to 1000 pupils and staff at lunch, plus breakfast, supper and weekend service for boarders
  • Cater for an onsite nursery and prep school
  • Plan and deliver a full hospitality offer across events and functions
  • Full stock control, GP management, rota planning and H&S compliance
  • Work closely with the on-site General Manager as part of the senior leadership team

What we’re looking for:

  • A strong people leader – someone who can inspire and lead from the front
  • Proven experience managing a kitchen brigade of 6+ in a volume, multi-point site
  • Confident with stock, GP, compliance and logistics
  • Calm under pressure, well organised and passionate about doing things properly
  • Experience in an independent school or similar catering environment preferred

Why this role?

  • Work somewhere where quality matters, and where your experience will be valued
  • Have your evenings back and enjoy a proper break over Christmas
  • Grow your career with an award-winning education caterer
  • Get access to training, qualifications, and staff discounts at 850+ retailers
  • Free meals on shift and monthly reward schemes

If this sounds like your kind of role, we’d love to hear from you. A kitchen visit and interview will be required.

All candidates must pass an enhanced DBS check (paid for by the employer). We are an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all backgrounds
