GMP Recruitment are proud to be partnered with a Tewkesbury based manufacturing company. We are recruiting an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to work on projects related to the improving productivity of machines and processes, onsite. Our client has a large variety of specialist machines from lathes and mills, to wire eroding, and laser welding and continues to invest in new technologies ensuring they remain at the cutting edge of high-quality precision manufacturing.

This is a full time, permanent role that requires an experienced engineer with a methodical and practical approach to problem solving, with experience of undertaking projects which improve the efficiency of a process.

You will receive a salary of up to 50K, pending relevant experience plus excellent company benefits.

To be considered for this role you must demonstrate previous experience in working closely with design and mechanical engineers to improve manufacturability and drive efficiency by reducing waste, cycle times, and downtime.

Manufacturing Engineer main duties:

  • Drive process efficiency by reducing waste, minimising cycle times, and cutting machine downtime.
  • Collaborate closely with mechanical engineers to ensure a seamless transition from design concept to prototype production and into full-scale manufacturing.
  • Work alongside the design team to enhance the manufacturability of existing products.
  • Support the product development phase by ensuring Design for Manufacture (DFM) principles are applied effectively.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate machine routing documentation and process records.
  • Train, mentor, and monitor machine shop operators to ensure best practices are followed.
  • Develop, optimise, and continuously improve production processes for both new and existing products

Manufacturing Engineer required skills and experience:

  • Proven experience in delivering projects aimed at improving process efficiency.
  • Skilled in setting and programming a variety of CNC machines.
  • Strong technical and practical problem-solving abilities.
  • Relevant industry experience is essential.
  • Solid understanding of lean manufacturing principles, including Kaizen, continuous improvement, and Design for Manufacture (DFM), ideally gained within a medium-volume, high-quality manufacturing environment.
  • Broad background in electro-mechanical product development, manufacturing, and testing.
  • Ability to confidently read and interpret complex electro-mechanical technical drawings.
  • Experience in training, mentoring, and supporting machine operators.
