We are currently recruiting for a Principal Planner on behalf of a well-established and rapidly growing professional services consultancy that plays a vital role in delivering infrastructure and utility projects across the UK and Ireland. This organisation is deeply committed to advancing the transition to Net Zero, supporting clients through expert services in land, planning, environmental, and geospatial disciplines.

Role Overview:

As a Principal Planner, you will manage and lead planning elements of multi-disciplinary projects, ensuring the successful delivery of planning consents and supporting the environmental considerations essential to national infrastructure. You will contribute to strategic planning advice, manage a team (or sub-team), and work closely with a range of clients, stakeholders, and local authorities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead or manage a small team delivering planning and environmental services on complex projects.

  • Provide expert planning advice across feasibility, screening, scoping, and application stages.

  • Prepare and submit planning applications, planning statements, and technical documents.

  • Engage with local planning authorities, stakeholders, and technical specialists to secure planning permissions.

  • Support and develop junior team members through mentoring and performance feedback.

Essential Requirements:

  • A relevant planning degree and Chartered Membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (MRTPI).

  • Strong technical planning knowledge, particularly within utilities or infrastructure.

  • Proven ability to manage complex planning projects and coordinate multi-disciplinary inputs.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to produce high-quality reports and proposals.

  • Full UK driving licence.
