Exciting Opportunity for a Bridge Team Manager
A standout opportunity has arisen for an experienced and forward-thinking Bridge Team Manager to join a leading local authority in a region known for its blend of urban vibrancy and rural charm. This is a permanent, full-time position (37 hours per week) with hybrid working and flexible arrangements available.
This pivotal role sits at the heart of a well-established highways and transport division, during a period of significant capital investment in infrastructure. You'll lead a dedicated in-house team of structural specialists responsible for managing and maintaining a complex and varied bridge asset portfolio. Working within a progressive local government setting, you will play a key role in shaping and delivering forward-looking projects that make a lasting impact on regional connectivity and safety.
The main duties of the Bridge Team Manager are:
路Provide leadership, technical direction, and strategic vision to the council's in-house bridge engineering team.
路Oversee all structural asset management including inspections, design, maintenance, safety compliance, and investment planning.
路Manage health and safety, contract delivery, and risk associated with bridge infrastructure.
路Work collaboratively with an integrated professional services provider to ensure effective project execution.
路Report to the Head of Design and Development and contribute to multi-million-pound transport schemes.
路Support the delivery of the authority's corporate infrastructure strategy through efficient and innovative bridge management practices.
The Bridge Team Manager will have key experience in:
路Leading technical teams within a public infrastructure or highways context.
路Chartered Engineer status (or working toward it), with expertise in bridges or large civil structures.
路Managing complex engineering projects, budgets, and cross-functional stakeholders.
路Working within a political and multi-agency environment.
路Clear, confident communication with a strong focus on collaboration and results.
路Adapting to change and promoting best practice in engineering risk, design standards, and statutory compliance.
